Designing with natural stone is about more than just style, it’s about intention, permanence, and soul.
Heather Weisz and Lisa Hynes of HW Interiors are known for crafting warm, collected spaces that feel as livable as they are luxurious. Their design firm brings a thoughtful, highly personalized approach to every project.
With a decade-long partnership built on creativity, trust, and shared values, Opustone has become more than a supplier for this design duo; we’re a true collaborator in the design process. Most recently, we partnered with HW Interiors to bring their kitchen projects to life, blending timeless materials with deeply personal touches. Photos from the transformations, captured in their recent Instagram reels, are featured throughout this blog.
“Scratches, etchings, and wear aren’t flaws; they’re memories. Each mark is a chapter in the story of shared meals, spontaneous moments, and daily life.”

We sat down with Heather and Lisa to talk about their favorite materials, the power of patina, and why Opustone continues to be their go-to source for showstopping stone.
Q: What first attracted you to Opustone?
A: What initially drew us to Opustone was the elevated, almost gallery-like experience of their showroom. It didn’t feel like a typical stone warehouse – it felt curated, inspiring, and truly high-end. The unique selection of slabs, many of which we hadn’t seen anywhere else, immediately caught our eye. Each visit feels like a treasure hunt, where we discover statement-making materials that align perfectly with the layered, intentional style we bring to our projects.
Q: How has Opustone become a key resource for your projects?
A: Over time, Opustone has become an essential part of our design process – not just because of the stunning inventory, but because of the relationships we’ve built. Their team understands the language of design, and they approach every project with care, flexibility, and genuine excitement to help us create something meaningful for our clients.

Q: How would you describe the quality and variety of stones available at Opustone?
A: The quality and breadth of stone at Opustone is unparalleled. From richly veined marbles to rare quartzites and tactile, textured limestones, their inventory always feels fresh and globally informed. We’re constantly surprised by what we find, whether it’s a one-of-a-kind slab or a newly sourced material that sparks an unexpected direction for a project.
Q: How has working with Opustone made your design process easier or more efficient?
A: Working with Opustone doesn’t just elevate the aesthetic – it streamlines the experience. Their team is knowledgeable, solution-oriented, and committed to excellence. They handle every detail with precision, from slab selection to delivery, making the process feel seamless and even enjoyable. Knowing we can trust them to deliver quality and care lets us focus on creativity and storytelling.

Q: Designing your own kitchen is one of the most personal projects a designer can take on. What qualities or materials are non-negotiables for you, and what makes Opustone the right choice to help bring that vision to life?
A: You know the saying, “the shoemaker’s son has no shoes”? It rings especially true for designers. We spend so much of our time creating dream homes for others that our own projects often take a back seat. For me, “later” turned into ten years. After buying our family home in the Equestrian Preserve in Wellington, Florida – our dream location – it took a decade before I finally had the time and clarity to design a kitchen that felt like ours.
For me, marble was non-negotiable. I know it can be controversial in kitchens, especially in the U.S., where perfection is often prioritized over patina. But living and traveling through Europe and South America, especially Argentina – my husband’s home country – I fell in love with how natural stone is celebrated there. Scratches, etchings, and wear aren’t flaws; they’re memories. Each mark is a chapter in the story of shared meals, spontaneous moments, and daily life.
Opustone helped bring that vision to life with materials that feel timeless and soulful. Their slabs don’t just serve a function – they anchor the space with natural beauty and character. They’re art from the earth, and exactly what I needed to create a kitchen that feels like home.
At Opustone, we’re not here for safe or expected; we’re here for stone with story, attitude, and impact. Sourcing with Intention, results in finishing with Opustone. That’s why top designers like HW Interiors keep coming back. Because when the slab is right, everything else falls into place.
