Newsworthy Luxury
Frankly, South Florida real estate developer Todd Michael Glaser was famous well before his recent Tarpon Isle project garnered national headlines. After all, Glaser’s remarkable prolificity in redeveloping high-end properties had established him as a major player in Miami’s red-hot luxury market.
There, he has utterly dominated the redevelopment of multi-million dollar estates on Star, Palm, and Hibiscus islands in the heart of Biscayne Bay. And his reimagining of old-style Mediterranean-style mansions into modern contemporary estates has literally changed the face of Miami luxury real estate.
But it was Glaser’s purchase of a unique property on Palm Beach’s Tarpon Isle that brought national media attention to the developer.
An artificial island housing a single luxury estate, Glaser and his partners purchased Tarpon Isle in 2021 for $85 million and began renovations. Now those renovations are complete and the unique property has been listed for sale with a price of $218 million. With Glaser’s asking price, Tarpon Isle will become the most expensive home ever sold in Florida.
Building the Ultimate Luxury Estate
Palm Beach is easily the most expensive residential real estate market in the US, with home sales averaging about $13 million per property. But what drew Glaser to Tarpon Isle was its uniqueness.
Glaser likens the one-of-a-kind property to a work of art, telling CNBC “You watch art, they sell… That’s what this is… It’s a one of one.”
In fact, the awareness of this property as a work of art seems to have informed Glaser’s reconstruction of the property as well. Unlike the many Mediterranean-styled mansions on Palm Beach, Glaser’s Tarpon Isle property is designed as a modern showpiece, with opulence wrought in natural stone rather than carved mahogany.
To realize his vision, Glaser turned to Opustone, the region’s ultimate source of premium-quality stone. And he makes no bones about why.
“Opustone has the largest and highest quality selections of natural stone, and we always want the top materials for our properties,” he said. “Along with the experience, Opustone offers reliability which we value.”
To realize his vision, Glaser and his wife selected a variety of Opustone’s most elegant marble slabs for interior spaces, while decking around the magnificent 98-foot outdoor pool. The interior features beautiful Calacatta Gold slabs as backsplashes, counters, and even shelving, along with elements built with Calacatta Azul, Carrara Extra, and Statuary Premium marbles.
“The idea of incorporating the stone from Opustone into the house was to bring elegance and a feeling of grandness,” said Glaser. “We chose timeless pieces that add to the elegance we want to portray in the house.”
A Showpiece Property’s Showpiece
However, even with every spectacular element of Glaser’s artistic renovation, what stands out most is the absolutely incredible master bathroom outfitted in grand style with Opustone’s Calacatta Gold L (extra polished) marble slabs.
Glaser himself is very proud of the bathroom, telling CNBC that it’s “the best bathroom I ever did.”
“The material that had the biggest impact on the property would be the Calacatta Gold L,” Glaser told Opustone. “This stone matches perfectly with the concept of a bathroom for her, the colors and how well it comes together with the space are the main reasons we chose the stone.”
Glaser’s fantastic master bathroom not only makes broad use of the marble slabs, but it also displays them proudly in bookmatches that add extra focus to the double shower, as well as floors and windows.
“This stone creates a peaceful and cohesive space for a bathroom,” Glaser explained, “and it is very beautiful to see the stone put together to elevate the space.” Opustone wishes to thank Mr. Glaser for contributing to this article. View more of his properties at toddmichaelglaser.com.
