Q1 Trend ReportAn inside look

An inside look at interesting buying trends at Opustone.

Q1 is at its end. As the year hurries onward, designers continue to experiment with stone, defining trends and shifting taste in the design sphere. To keep you ahead of what’s been resonating, we took an inside look at some interesting buying trends in luxury stone here at Opustone.

Subtle Pops of Color

Colorful natural stone applications have slowly been making their way back into everyday spaces. While neutral surfaces still reign supreme for their versatility, subtle pops of color are being incorporated to break up the monotony of neutral spaces, adding personality without overtaking décor. Natori Azul Polished marble, a subtle light blue toned stone, proved popular this quarter, as did Anchorage Honed marble, a rich brown and cream stone with striking pops of diffused ochre tones.

The introduction of subtle color in stone application is a natural response to years of fully neutral-toned spaces dominating the interior design space. We see color usage becoming bolder over time as the marker of high-end luxury interior design shifts from minimalist restraint to expert use of color theory, balance and harmony.

Deeper Tones That Set Mood and Create Contrast

This quarter, we’ve noticed a growing interest in broodier, darker stone as a way of adding depth and atmosphere to interior spaces. The grey-blue Balboa Polished quartzite drew notable attention, a moody stone with a tranquil, layered design. Titanium Travertine Vein Cut (Filled/Honed) also stood out as a darker-toned alternative to the typical neutral travertine slab, reinforcing this shift toward higher-contrast compositions, even within neutral designs.

Porcelain Alternatives

Due to their ease of upkeep, Relativa Porcelain slabs have been growing in popularity as an alternative to natural stone slabs. Made with advanced technology, these full-sized porcelain slabs replicate the look of even the most intricate natural stone, shown through Relativa Ceppo Di Gre Natural.  A popular choice early this year was Relativa Paonazzo Polished, a white porcelain slab with striking gold veining, aligning with the growing interest in subtle color accents.
